Apoxee Wilderness Trail: Be Prepared to Wade
February 2, 2016 | bridge
Apoxee Wilderness Trail really lives up to its name, so don water-resistant boots before you embark on a hike here. The trail not only gets you up close and personal with the waters of West Palm Beach—it dips you right down into them. The 4.7-mile trail takes outdoorsmen and -women through the most tropical parts of West Palm Beach, making for a fun and educational day hike.
The extra moisture along the trail results in vibrant greenery at every turn, so wading through the water is well worth the effort. Some of the trail crosses over elevated wooden boardwalks, saving you from wet feed, whereas other parts of the path showcase crushed limestone or simply packed dirt. The Apoxee Wilderness Trail also intersects with the Owahee Trail, so veer off in this direction if you want a lengthier hike.
